“Do you believe in Faeries? Well this is my story. 32 years ago I was obsessed with Faeries. As a young artist of only 15 or 16 I decided to paint these Faeries from the book by Alan Lee on my bedroom wall around a “Ban the Bomb” poster. I was very proud of my Faerie paintings and my mother was quite upset when she wallpapered over them many years later. Recently I was reading an article by Helen Shortland (an Holistic healer that works in Nottingham), about this subject and I felt a sudden tingle, retracing my steps back to being a young girl. All the vitality and excitement of those days returned and I was compelled to tell Helen of my story. She immediatley invited me to her practice for a healing session. Being a Reiki master myself I became excited about what Helen had to offer. I was instantly at ease with this bubbly lady who escorted me into a calm blue room with candles and soft music. We chattered like old friends despite having never met and exchanged our stories. I then lay on her bed as she took me through the most creative journey of colour, texture and what I can only describe as pure magic. For an artist I can only describe this as paradise. I was cleansed with air, fire and water and felt them all right from the core of the earth up into our Universe. My faerie from 32 years ago opened a door into the natural world and I had front row seat. For 30 minutes I was transfixed by light and the most amazing colour that I would struggle to replicate with any artist paints. The words that whispered was “Look after our Earth.” If this is my job then I will abide.
